Captain John Thompson remains a doubt with a thigh injury and midfielder Ben Davies could be rested after needing painkillers for a back problem.

Notts County coach Tommy Johnson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "They are a struggling, the league doesn't lie. But I know Steve Staunton from my days at Aston Villa and they will keep going until it's impossible to stay up.

"On Saturday they were 2-0 up and by all accounts playing well but in the last 10 minutes they fell apart.

"But if they can get a couple of wins they know they have a chance of getting out of it."
