Darlington Football Club will soon be offering a virtual wireless internet service to people of the Tees Valley area.
Darlington will be the first town in the North of England to offer a virtual wireless internet service to all people living in the Tees Valley area. The service will be provided by Darlington Football Club in conjunction with its new media partner.A significant five-figure deal has been made with Balfour Sports Media which could boost Darlo's finances by as much as £250,000 per year.
This means Darlington Football Club will start to offer wireless broadband and telephone internet services to homes and businesses using the very latest technology called Wimax. The services will have a highly competitive monthly fee compared to other broadband providers like BT Internet, Orange, TalkTalk, AOL, Tiscali and NTL and season ticket holders will benefit from a further reduction in prices.
In return for hosting the virtual internet service, DFC will receive a generous percentage of all costs which in turn will be ploughed back into the playing budget in keeping with the chairman's on-the-pitch plans.
Chief executive, Jon Sotnick, said; "Everyone at the club is very excited at the fact that we are leading the footballing world in embracing this new technology.
"We have some things planned which will bring the fans closer to the club and enhance the match-day experience. However, it is not just the fans who can benefit from this service. We will be offering businesses in the area a chance to tap into our resources to offer similar discounts to their customers."
